About Dr. PatelTushar C. Patel, M.B., Ch.B., is a specialist in transplant medicine at Mayo Clinic in Florida and a professor of medicine in the College of Medicine, Mayo Clinic. After receiving his medical degree from the University of Glasgow in Scotland, Dr. Patel completed an internal medicine residency and a gastroenterology fellowship with specialized clinician-investigator training at Mayo Clinic. Dr. Patel is board certified in internal medicine, gastroenterology and transplant hepatology. His clinical interests are in general and transplant hepatology, while his research focuses on the pathobiology and treatment of hepatobiliary cancers. He has received several research grants, including funding from the National Institutes of Health. Dr. Patel has published and presented extensively about liver cancers. He has co-authored more than 180 peer-reviewed papers and abstracts and has given more than 35 extramural presentations. Dr. Patel is also a fellow of the American Gastroenterological Association and has received numerous honors and awards for his work, including the Donald C. Balfour Mayo Clinic Alumni Association Research Award for meritorious research. |
