DIABETES RESEARCHDr. Rizza’s research program is seeking to gain a better understanding of the factors that maintain glucose concentrations in the normal range in non-diabetic humans and how alteration in the secretion and action of these factors leads to diabetes mellitus. Dr. Rizza’s research also focuses on the effects of normal aging and age-associated disorders on glucose metabolism. The goal of Dr. Rizza’s research is to determine the cause(s) of type 2 diabetes and related disorders of carbohydrate tolerance thereby enabling the development of novel therapies that can prevent or improve the treatment of this life threatening disorder. |
