Director, Science of Health Care Delivery

The Department of Health Sciences Research invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position at the Associate or Full Professor level with expertise and academic leadership in outcomes research, clinical epidemiology, and/or health services research. Applicants should have a doctoral degree in epidemiology, health services research or related field or an M.D. with additional training or experience in one or more of these areas.

The successful candidate will be a recognized academic leader, with a track record of research, teaching, and mentoring junior faculty. He or she will primarily direct and coordinate research initiatives related to outcomes research at the Mayo Clinic, both within the Department of Health Sciences Research as well as with faculty from clinical departments at Mayo. The candidate will also be expected to develop an independent research program related to the candidate's area of expertise. Teaching opportunities are available in the Clinical and Translational Research Ph.D. and M.S. degree programs, which are a part of the Mayo Clinic Center for Translational Science Activities (CTSA).

Salary and benefits are highly competitive. The position includes a generous start-up package and a Mayo core (endowed) research budget.

Two Faculty Level Positions Available

The Mayo Clinic is seeking epidemiologists at the Assistant or Associate Professor level to be located at its campuses in Scottsdale, Arizona and Jacksonville, Florida. The research focus of the Scottsdale position is flexible, while the research interest of the Jacksonville position will be in gastrointestinal cancers. Both are career scientist positions (equivalent to tenure track) and include competitive start-up packages and benefits. The successful candidates will be eligible for academic appointment in the Mayo College of Medicine. They will be organizationally affiliated with the Mayo Clinic Cancer Center. The expectation is that the successful applicants will become an established investigator, with limited teaching and administrative responsibilities. The successful candidate is expected to develop an extramurally funded research program in genetic epidemiology and/or molecular epidemiology of cancer, and to complement ongoing or developing translational programs in clinical research, basic science, and behavioral science. The candidate will also have the opportunity to supervise post doctoral fellows through existing training grants, and to work collaboratively with members of the Mayo Clinic Cancer Center.

Many opportunities exist for interdisciplinary and collaborative work. Across its three campuses in Jacksonville, FL, Rochester, MN, and Scottsdale, AZ, the Mayo Clinic is well regarded for its research through established resources such as the North Central Cancer Treatment Group, the Community Clinical Oncology Program, the Rochester Epidemiology Project, and SPOREs in Prostate, Breast, Pancreatic, Brain Cancer, and in Lymphoma and Myeloma. Epidemiologist

The Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida is seeking an epidemiologist at the Assistant or Associate Professor level, with research interests in gastrointestinal cancers. The GI Cancer Program is an established program in the Mayo Clinic Cancer Center, with 46 investigators in both clinical and basic science. Across its three campuses in Jacksonville, Rochester (MN), and Scottsdale (AZ), the Mayo Clinic is well regarded for its research through established resources such as the North Central Cancer Treatment Group, the Community Clinical Oncology Program, SPORE in Pancreatic Cancer, and the Rochester Epidemiology Project. Collaborations with basic and clinical scientists in well-funded programs in esophageal, pancreatic, colorectal, hepatocellular and/or biliary cancer are possible. Study Coordination Staff

The study coordination staff is currently comprised of four levels of study coordinators, two levels of study assistants, office assistants, and special studies clerks. The level is determined by the investigator/study needs, and the demonstrated skill set each individual can bring to enhance the success of the project. The range of operation and responsibility across the job titles varies from day-to-day correspondence handling and data entry, to project management and general overall study coordination for one or more investigator-led research studies. All staff must comply with all regulatory requirements, as well as institutionally mandated guidelines. They must be customer service oriented, detail focused, and manage their time wisely to accomplish the variety of goals specific to their assigned studies.

Applicants will be interviewed by a panel including a study representative. Behavioral interview questions and scenarios are used to assess individual experience and response thinking. Upper level coordinators will be asked to demonstrate a project they have developed and/or give a PowerPoint presentation highlighting a project they have directly conducted.

R.N. Research Coordinator

These positions require experience in data management, coordination of research protocols, medical record abstraction, use of software packages, an understanding of basic statistical sampling techniques, and ability to interpret patient histories. Proven written and oral communication skills are essential.

Candidates must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing, with five years of experience in a health care and/or research setting. A bachelor's degree in nursing is preferred.

The Division of Epidemiology conducts behavioral interviews to fill current openings for RN Research Coordinator positions.

Administrative Assistant

An applicant to the position of Administrative Assistant in the Division of Epidemiology must have formal training as an administrative assistant and 2-5 years of experience. Administrative Assistants in Epidemiology work closely with our physician/researchers and their research teams, as well as with a variety of other administrative/physician staff at Mayo and outside agencies. Administrative Assistants in our positions must have flexibility to work in a rapidly changing environment, possess excellent written and oral communication skills, maintain confidentiality of information, and have demonstrated decision-making skills and attention to detail and follow-through. Individuals applying for the position of Administrative Assistant in Epidemiology will be interviewed by a panel of 5 management level administrative assistants and tested for software competency in Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
