Felicity Enders in the Spotlight

Felicity Enders

What brought you to Mayo?
I came to Mayo because my soon-to-be husband matched here for his medical residency. We're staying in the area after his residency ends because I love my job.

What do you value about working at Mayo in the Division of Biostatistics?
This division is unusual in that it's very large, includes Ph.D.'s with a wide variety of expertise, and uses a team structure. Working on a team means that I work with the same group of physician-investigators and the same types of diseases across most of my collaborative work. The team also means we have analysts and master's level statisticians available to help with the day-to-day details of most projects.

What do you feel you've contributed to Mayo Clinic?
My focus has always been on teaching statistics to non-statisticians. Working with the education team, I've been able to restructure several courses and devise new courses to meet students' needs. I've also embedded statistical education research projects within coursework. Recently I developed a Calibrated Peer Review module that dramatically improved students' ability to correctly interpret coefficients in linear regression. I'm currently leading an initiative to create innovative, interactive, online course material.
