Clinical Profile

Summary

I direct the Anesthesia Clinical Research Unit, designed to provide resources and mentorship to investigators pursuing patient-oriented research regarding issues in anesthesia and critical care. My own clinical research interests center on perioperative lung health. Current projects include investigations of risk factors for and methods to prevent perioperative pulmonary complications. I am particularly interested in methods to cigarette smokers undergoing surgery quit tobacco, and a major ongoing projects on this topic are funded by Clearway Minnesota and the National Cancer Institute.
